Filpping through the channels at the motel, I found him selling PF70 2014W Kennedy gold half dollars. $3395 each, plus unspecified shipping and handling. It wasn't hard to find them selling for $1830 at APMEX. In a relative sense, these 3/4 oz coins trade in about the same range as Canadian Maple Leafs as bullion. 75,000 were made so they're not scarce. But they're certainly an interesting novelty to sell at a huge upcharge on TV. "Two minutes ago I would have sold my chances for a tired dime." Fred Astaire

If he wasn't making money, he wouldn't be on TV. That's the shame.

thq : I am glad that you have let us all know, here in the CCF, that 2014W gold Kennedy halves can be had for $1830 It matters little with semi bullion coins, if they are PF69 or 70. PF-70 looks like a marketing tactic, to my way of thinking, with zero justification to add $500 or more to the asking price.

In defense of Rick (Tomaska), He is the one I trust most of the TV coin hucksters. Although as of late he is becoming more of a shyster all the time. It really boils down to buyer beware. There is some good stuff of his shows.IMHO. John1

$1240 for 3/4 oz of gold seemed rather expensive at the time. $3395 is insane in any market.
