I don't think I've seen lamination cracks on a 1943 steel one cent before. Weighs a bit lighter than standard 43. I'm guessing a problem with alloy mixture. Thanks

@jfe, no big deal, but moving forward please don't create more than one thread for a coin. If you forget to upload pics at first, you can just go in an add them to that original thread. Thx!

Sorry Spence.. I have no idea what happened. I didn't even notice the double posting until I went to review.

Can it even have a lam issue? Copper plated cents can't so zinc plated steel probably can't.Any chance it is tape? Also, what does the edge look like?

Those cracks are from the steel rolling. I like the coin. If you trade, J. let me know. Is not the value but the coin itself.

I would agree with John1, tape or tape residue or possibly a horribly re-plated cent, that we know are very common.

I appreciate the comments. Attached are a few more photos showing a better view of the "cracks". Also note the marked DDD on Abe's chin and neck. I'll try giving it a bath in Acetone if necessary.

Acetone is not good for steel. Pay attention.

I used my old trusty 30 power loop and I'm still thinking cracks. The reverse is nice with no cracks. Perhaps Silviosi called it. Thanks again..

I do not think the neck doubling is DDD. Something to do with channeling or retooling ,can't remember.
