Looks like some fine hairlines on both obverse and reverse. From these pictures I'd have to say XF details-cleaned. In my opinion the 1927 P is an undervalued coin of the series considering it's low mintage.

even with these photos the original skin has been removed on this coin. hairlines all over this coin on both sides cross over the devices. you would not see this if they were die polish lines. it appears to have been cleaned and then lightly polished.
XF details (cleaned)

Looks XF and cleaned to me, too! I had a dealer friend that always told me "I don't care what grade is on the label, or what is written on the 2x2, all Peace dollars look VF to me!" I think this looks a little better than what he would have thought about it!

So I'm not sure if these are any better but gave it a try in another lighting then before. Still unsure what is seen as washed out but hopefully these arent. So how can people tell so easily if coins have been cleaned or not..this use to be my grandfathers coin so I dont know what all has been done or not but I do want to learn all this stuff. I have some nicer 1922 coins also but its been hard for me to researchthese and know what to actually look for.

I'll say EF-40 based on the (apparently) well-worn reverse.

It went through circulation and it possibly lightly cleaned once, so I agree with Coinfrog around XF-40.

your new photos are much better. remember CCF members can only assess a coin based on the quality of the photos. doesn't matter if grandfather did not clean the coin. before he pulled it from circulation it was circulated quite a bit and you have no idea who had it or what was done to it before he got it. on your original photos, one area that stands out is on the field between the forehead and the L. all the hairlines are the result of a cleaning on your new photos note the upper area of the obv above the red line. the original surfaces have been removed. compare that area to the area below. the same thing on the reverse hope that helps

Your new photos are better but they seem to mask some of the problem areas from your first images. As Panzaldi says, the original images showed areas of hairlines in the fields. Sometimes when hairlines are present it may indicate a polished die from the mint worker which doesn't present a problem. When you can see those same hairlines crossing over the relief devices, it indicates a harsher cleaning after it left the mint. Despite the cleaning it is still an OK coin for a folder or album, just not worthy of sending to be slabbed by a TPG.

I think I'm understanding what you guys are saying on most of it. I totally get it cant be properly done by photos. But maybe now it might make a little more sense why I posted the dif photos the way I did trying to mainly just show details a little better cause the marks your saying are from being cleaned dont show well at all in all the other photos I took lol..its def been circulated at 1 point or another but overall in person its still a pretty nice looking coin. I thought the 27s were one of the more sought after years but I guess I heard wrong lol

Ive tried watching videos trying to get a better learning of coins but I'm just not having much luck..not a video watching person to start but my sparatic brain cant stay focused with such a wide range of things to learn..or people take me as someone only looking for a quick and hefty payout which isn't the case. I mean, it would be nice but not my goal and even tho I have a good sized collection I highly doubt any are worth alot
