So easy to skip over one of these in change, thinking it's scuffing damage or something similar.

I really like this one @coin. Is that a small planchet defect at 10 o'clock on the reverse rim or just a couple dings?

Thanks for the comments! I do like how these photos came out. The weak strike gives FDR a sort of vignette effect that I find appealing, same for the reverse.
Spence - I believe that is a small planchet defect like you suggested. It's hard to say for sure though.

Thanks again!
I've always wondered how the grading criteria is used for errors like this, thoughts?

I would think the planchet nicks would count against it since they would be visible and not eliminated by the strike.

Quote: I would think the planchet nicks would count against it since they would be visible and not eliminated by the strike. Wouldn't those nicks be considered pre-strike blemishes, not eliminated by a full strike and not count against the grade?

Cool coin! I look for things like this too. Generally labeled as grease strike or something similar. I would call this coin ms60. As long as there is no evidence of circulation. I don't see how they could grade it any higher than minimal with barely any strike.
