Wondering if this is something similar to all 2023 Morgan proofs or just mine. Examining in normal light, you can see it with the unaided eye but really shows up under magnification, sort of a glint in Liberty's ear, I would describe as in the "bowl" of her ear towards the top. It just doesn't seem like it would be some sort of damage, based on the location. I could try to get this in a picture.

Quote: I could try to get this in a picture. Yes please. Otherwise I can just lock this thread and you can create a fresh one with the pics. Thx.

Here's my 2023-S proof Morgan dollar, for what it's worth. Are you seeing the same thing here, Gilly?
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Sorry for the delay, injured my knee and have been off work, should have tried getting the pictures then, I had the time but had to ice and rest. Went back to work yesterday. There are a few other bright points in the field area, this is just normal flash effect. It was really hard to get this flash point in a picture, lots of experimenting with zoom and distance. Too close and the shade of the camera would prevent the flash point from occurring. But just that bright spot in her ear is what I mean. I suspect a chip in the die? I had to pull it out of the capsule to get a picture of it at all, which is something I rarely do. No way I get a picture in the capsule, I found that out!

Thanks. It's one of those things that doesn't really jump out at you, your have to be changing the angle line we all do when looking for flaws or just admiring the coin, you hold it just right and I saw this little flash that seemed out of place, it shouldn't be shiny there. I had mentioned somewhere, I don't think here, that this actually could be a good idea for an anti counterfeit feature, I shiny spot in a selected location, maybe even make it a specific shape like a star? Maybe people works be turned off by the appearance. Maybe it could be incorporated into the edge, might be harder to duplicate than a missing reed.
