My uncle gave me a bunch of wheat pennies and this Morgan dollar. I don't think it's a counterfeit, but I could be wrong. What do you guys think? Any tips and advice would be appreciated!

@dtra, first welcome to CCF. Second, what is the weight of this coin? Also, when you put it back in the 2x2, make sure that you flatten all the staples.

High-resolution images (outside the 2x2) are needed but based on what I see it appears to be a very nice genuine CC Morgan. Assuming it's genuine then a MS64 grade seems reasonable.

dtran3,

Spence beat me to it, make sure to flatten those staples so you don't end up scratching other coins in 2x2 in case you happen to stack them. Also, always best to remove coins from holders before taking photos every time. You might want to check for a VAM: http://www.vamworld.com/wiki/Home

I'm a little suspicious. Everything looks so cartoon-y, especially the reverse. Better images would help.

I'll say MS-62, possibly 63. Agree better pics would help.

Photos aren't real sharp, but it looks like a genuine VAM-5A. I'd say MS-63.

Thanks for all the quick response guys! I took that picture with my s22 ultra, but they were over 300kb so I had to resize it. Sorry! I'll take a picture again once I get back home. Thanks again everyone!

it would help if the coin was out of the holder. my concern is the shadowing occurring on parts of the coin especially the reverse where the fields appear to be missing luster. the reverse strike is a little weak for an 83(CC)

without better photos i'd call it MS63
