This is a coin that I am thinking about bidding on. Before I bid on it, I just wanted to get everybody's thoughts on the coin. These are not my photos, rather, these are the photos provided by the auction company. Edit: I'm not looking to keep this coin for my personal collection; I'd be looking to re-sell this coin. I would not bid on the coin as the die markers from these photos are not clear. The 3 on a 93 S is raised above the other numbers in the date, but from these photos can not tell. The 1 in the date sits directly over the forth denticle from the neck point, but from these photos can not tell. This coin would need an in hand inspection to confirm its authenticity as the die markers in the R and T in liberty would need to be checked. I would recommend that you pass and look for a better example.

This is junk, hard pass.

If it's for resale - ask for a weight. It looks to be either a cull-grade details coin or an off-metal cast counterfeit - possibly contemporary. The weight will either be within tolerance for a coin that worn or much lower or higher depending on the composition.

Since it's not possible to determine authenticity due to the damage, I would not pay any money for this coin.

The bright surfaces in the protected areas makes me suspicious. I'd pass on it also.

This is a coin that would be easy to buy cheap, but very hard to re-sell because you couldn't guarantee authenticity and because of the horrible curb appeal. Why would you think someone would pay more than what you could buy for it at auction?

To my eyes it's garbage. The mint mark is clearly too high to be either of the two reverse dies - even in F02 examples on PCGS you can see that it's wrong.

This is a horribly ugly coin, even if genuine I would be a hard pass.

there is a reason that the coin is not in a slab.

I ended up not pulling the trigger on the coin. I agreed with you all that the coin had an ugly look about it, and I wasn't able to get any additional photos of the LIBERTY headband to see if it had the proper die markers. On top of that, it sold for almost $2,000, a good bit higher than I would have paid for the coin. If I had confirmed that the coin was genuine and could have gotten the coin for $1,500, I think I would have been more inclined to pull the trigger. Regardless, thank you all for your input.

That coin had REGRET written all over it. Even if genuine, I doubt that you would find a buyer in the future for a coin in this condition despite the rarity. Good move to pass and let someone else regret it!
