This is a nice one I'm placing in my 7070 album.
1881-O-Morgan-Dollar-VAM? 1881-O-Morgan-Dollar-VAM?

Oh yeah, forgot to put that on this one. What, if any VAM could be on this coin. I'm not that good at these

Well, I had these Morgans floating around in my Misc box for a long time so when I started my 7070 set I placed it in there. at some point, I'll upgrade it. I recently have gotten a new interest in the Morgan dollars (blame it on the mint and the new releases?).
I'll be trying to get some nicer ones at some point, I do have a PCGS graded Morgan in the mail coming to me (graded at MS-64 - VAM 24 Doubled Die reverse) BUT should I crack out that one for the album?
I also just bought Both Dansco Albums tor the Morgan dollars and will start to fill it up with the best I can afford (I hear that these can be quite expensive in high grades)

Right on Sir! They were already yours to begin with...gotcha
Hope you don't feel like I was calling you out...but I was confused with ALL the other beautiful coins you've shown us for your collection that you would choose this one '; )~
Good luck with your Morgan dollar adventure...especially if you become a VAM'r!
Looking fwd to your progress there!

I was confused for the same reasons as everyone else.
I'm assuming this is the new direction you are taking your collection in, as you stated to me a few weeks ago.
This will be a fun one, and it's in my opinion not to far off from your ASE collection.
I've been doing a little dabbling in these and ASE's myself.
Good luck on your goal, and have fun.

Some VAMs are obvious and can be seen with the eyes, major clashes, die cracks, die breaks, etc. Many VAMs though are difficult to see, a magnifier is needed, slight doubling, small polish lines, some letter transfer of a clash, etc. It's harder to ID with circulation wear that can eliminate variety markers.

I have a few circulated Morgans I can't ID, can't see anything unusual. I don't know why but some Morgan years on Vamworld show a normal die pair as VAM-1, no special features, but other years don't. The 1881-O does show normal VAM-1 so if there's no visible markers I'd call it that.
