1940 mystery Wheat penny, no mint mark, weight is 3.06 grams,. Bright silver in color(see pic). My girlfriend got this as change. I cannot find anything like it or about it, it is driving me crazy. any information would be greatly appreciated.

Going to need a bit better photo to help you. Less glare and properly cropped. As of now,might be a plated coin.

At this point, I'm thinking plated. Full, large and sharp pics of the obverse and reverse would be very welcome.

@mark, first welcome to CCF. Second, can you please check to see if a strong magnet is attracted to this cent? I agree that it likely was plated after it left the mint, but we might be able to narrow it down a bit with this additional information. Thx.

Ty, I will try to get better pics, my phone does not have a very good camera, sorry. I tried several magnets, absolutely not magnetic.

Please repost with better pictures. These last two are way too blurry and too dark to be useful.
