1940 mystery Wheat penny, no mint mark, weight is 3.06 grams,. Bright silver in color(see pic). My girlfriend got this as change. I cannot find anything like it or about it, it is driving me crazy. any information would be greatly appreciated. *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***

Going to need a bit better photo to help you. Less glare and properly cropped. As of now, might be a plated coin. John1

At this point, I'm thinking plated. Full, large and sharp pics of the obverse and reverse would be very welcome.

@mark, first welcome to CCF. Second, can you please check to see if a strong magnet is attracted to this cent? I agree that it likely was plated after it left the mint, but we might be able to narrow it down a bit with this additional information. Thx.

Ty, I will try to get better pics, my phone does not have a very good camera, sorry. I tried several magnets, absolutely not magnetic.

Please repost with better pictures. These last two are way too blurry and too dark to be useful.

To CCF! Appears to have been plated after it left the U.S. Mint. PMD.
