Hello I have a 1984D penny that looks sandblasted. I posted on someone else's link and a gentleman asked me to do a new topic and link to the other one so I hope it works cuz I don't know what I'm doing. Anyways This penny looks like the copper was put on like cotton candy. Little fragment lines of copper everywhere. The penny does have errors as I noticed the top of the T's and the legs of the E's are skinny. I believe a D and S have a very narrow area as well. The penny detail is really good and it has a satin like gloss to it and is a real pretty deep copper color that has the windmill effect when angled. So I am wondering what's up with the sandblasted look and is it worth my while to post on ebay. Thanks Punkie17

Zinc rot. It's rotting from the inside out. If you are going to list it on ebay do it soon before it's gone.

Not worth selling. It would just give you a bad rep on ebay. Spend it. John1

Some of the oddity in letterforms may be explainable by die wear, but that wouldn't be enough for me to keep this cent.

Post-strike damage--exposure to a somewhat corrosive environment. Emergence of obverse Ridge Ring which indicates Die Deterioration. Early compromise of the zinc core--which will lead toward much zinc rot. Not an error coin. I'd avoid listing this on ebay.

Be honorable and considerate do not try to sell this coin, it has no extra value.
