Just bought this off ebay, misfiled as a die clash.
Seemed pretty enough to share.
Based on Error-Ref it seemed to be a shattered die with multiple bi-level die cracks.

Shattered Die Description and Link from Error-Ref.com
"In a bi-level die crack, there is vertical displacement at the site of the crack. This means the die face has sunk in on one side of the crack."
https://www.error-ref.com/4880-2/

I thought it was a lamination error (or more likely just a bunch of glue) when I saw it online but kept looking. The surface breaks on lamination errors tend to be more shelf-like flaked patterns with some loss of detail under the broken section. Shattered dies with bi-level die cracks, according to the reference, can have the curved breaks with nearly perfect retention of detail on both sides of the breaks like this one.

Any ideas on which grading companies grade these? I've seen examples from PCGS, NGC, and ANACS online, but wasn't sure if PCGS and NGC only do specific specimens.

I can see why you say that. The toned edges are hard to discern in the lower res images. The different layers of metal are clear as day under the scope. I can try to post some better images so the metal edges of the cracks might be easier to see.

Do these show the breaks and layering any better?

Have you soaked it in acetone yet, CentR? I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt until I looked at that seller's other auctions, like this "1938 Mercury dime Planchet Error Coin"

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a warm acetone bath.

Is there a way to slice sections off the surface of a coin and leave all the detail? For example the forehead and the B, T, and Y of LIBERTY are in recessed sections and there's no detail loss.
In case it's helpful, here's an example from error-ref.com of a bi-level break on a shattered die with that same rounded shape and retention of detail on the lower section. I can't figure out how to not loose some detail if sections are removed by PMD?

You're right about the seller. This was labeled die clash/crack. I messaged the seller to explain what a die clash was and that this coin wasn't worth what they were asking. The seller told me they got these from somewhere and had no sense of what they are.

I thought it might be glue too from the ebay images. It's not, it's metal edges. I'm doing a bad job imaging it. It's so pretty in person. I wish I could convey it. Maybe tomorrow I can try taking pictures with sunlight coming in from the side through a window, or try side lighting it. If you have any imaging suggestions, I'd love to hear it.

Here's images that highlight the metal edges of the die breaks. The edges of the breaks glow silver from the sunlight coming in from the side when the ring light is off. I also used a better compression algorithm.

Not a shattered die, more likely a foreign substance.

Looks like stains. Give it a soak in 100% pure acetone and see if it goes away.
