This was a cherrypick from the weekend and it's already here. Speedy delivery! The actual repunched S wasn't visible in the photos but the die markers were so it was a sure thing. Expensive buy-in for a coin like this so good to be certain up front. It will get reholdered with the variety on the label. Will be sorry to see that old label go, but once on the label it will be POP 7/1. 1929 S/S Lincoln Wheat cent - RPM-001, FS-501

Nice, I love these with the clashed S !. Congrats on the old holder too. Taking a chance on cracking it out for a better grade?

Thanks! And no, not going to crack it out. It wouldn't go 66 and could easily end up RB so not really seeing an upside. It'll just get reholdered with the variety on the label.

Alright, so I do not typically deal with these types of grades but am trying to learn. If you did crack it out and it came out the way you said, would that be worse for worth? Gaining a point but going RB as apposed to Red, a point lower? Just curious. And is it subjective, on the particular coin, variety?

Makecents, I said it "wouldn't" go 66, as in 65 is the best grade this coin will ever see. And RD is the highest color. So there is absolutely no benefit to cracking it out, and lots to lose if it drops a point or color. For this kind of stuff you would use "reconsider" to try and get a higher grade, because if it doesn't get the higher grade they keep it in the original holder and nothing lost other than the fees. Cracking out a coin already with a high grade is always an iffy proposition and rarely done unless you just know it can't go lower.
Anyway, just remember that if you crack out a coin then that grade and color is gone forever. You will have to live with whatever the new grade is since there is no going back once it's out of the holder.

Looks like major "ghosting" on the reverse as well as some on the obverse. That doesn't factor in the grading? John1
