Die Polish Lines On 1973-D Jefferson Nickel?

Paul Bulgerin Pillar of the Community United States 3098 Posts	Posted 06/03/2024 5:23 pm I have a roll of BU 1973-D Jefferson nickels which I pulled out to examine today. I noticed that nine of the forty coins in the roll have nearly full, to full steps on Monticello as well as a thin line which runs from the reverse rim at about the 9:00 position to the edge of the building. The line doesn't appear on the building but shows up again beneath it, running through the base in "MONTICELLO" to the base of "FIVE" and down to the T in "STATES". There are also thin raised lines above the depiction of Monticello. This is on all of the coins with the full steps. None of the other coins in the roll have these lines. Are these die polish lines? Zurie Pillar of the Community United States 5670 Posts	Posted 06/03/2024 8:27 pm Die polish lines, and that line on the reverse at 7:00 to 8:00 must be a die scratch. Too straight to be a die crack, and it doesn't match the obverse for a die clash. Report this Post to the Staff
