Looks to me like a nice die clash on the obverse.

very nice clash on this 54 year old cent. I wonder if it was at some point in somebody's collection.

Nice Die Clash! The reverse looks weakly struck.

Thank you everyone. Everyday yearning and learning. Quote: I wonder if it was at some point in somebody's collection. That is immediately what comes to mind when I find coins like this. I can see some dollar coins and half dollars getting spent out of a collection. Even quarters. But penny's?

I like it! Here's a Clash Overlay for the Lincoln Memorial cent. It shows about where you can expect to find clash marks on a LMC with no rotation.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Congrats on the clashed cent.
These tend to make it back in circulation by a relative (kid?) pilfering for ice cream $ or a relative with no interest in numismatics disposing of a collection at a bank after some one has passed.
