I have a tuff time calling them spike "heads" as well, but nice thick die crack of the bust region.

Well, I'm in the camp that believes the original site attributing these have provided a definition.
I'm not sure it gets much clearer than that.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

Just to be clear. I have little interest in spike heads although I think I have one or two in my collection/hoard.I place SH in the same category as the floating roof and missing FG cents. A die crack needs to be fairly prominent to peek my interests. That said, collect what you like, and I will collect what I like. John1
