I scored an AH 865 (1461) Gujarat Falus at auction. I'll post it as a catch-up when it arrives.

I recently picked up Arabic Coins and How to Read Them.
Do any of you guys knowledgeable in AH and other non-Christian calendars have other book recommendations, whether numismatic or non-numismatic? (It's hard enough to find books on AD calendars & dating systems!)

(It's hard enough to find books on AD calendars & dating systems!) The three below would help, the one that you already have should get you on the way to understanding some of the Arabic text. Also Check out the sticky in the CCF menu "Books, Downloads, Websites" In the Ancients section http://goccf.com/t/149883There is a wealth of information and links to find there......good luck. Excellent coins, everyone! Currently missing dates: 1464, 1463, 1462, 1461, 1457. (I was wondering why the 1457 from the 6th and 7th edition threads wasn't posted - then I checked and it was another "datable" coin. My own, much more dubious, "1457" doesn't have a date either.) (And looking forward to some more eventual contributions from @samoth, as well!)

We are in a bit of a dead zone for me now. I have a few datable coins in this time period, but nothing with the date.

Quote: We are in a bit of a dead zone for me now. Yeah, a bit deader than I expected; I thought we'd see some dated AH coins at least. (I have one in this decade, but it's from 856 AH = 1452 AD, so wouldn't come up until Thursday.) Missing dates so far: 1464, 1463, 1462, 1461, 1457, 1455.

**Original post deleted... double checking the date on a Delhi tanka** I thought I had a AH859 tanka, but now checking my newly arrived G&G, I see that what I thought was the "59", is actually the final letters 'ft' of the normal reverse last word "khilafatuhu" My records show that BD251 has a Jaunpur coin for 1455, so hopefully this will get played in time. I checked back and I played this coin in HFBCWG 7 on 24th April 2024, so maybe jbuck can delete it? BD251's post ensured the continuity of that thread.
