Jimbo48 Valued Member United States 250 Posts	Posted 07/19/2024 1:33 pm I recently was looking over 1858 Flying Eagles on ebay and found the following coin listed as 1858 SL. I noticed the broken wingtip and then saw the tip of the 7. It was a buy it now posting for $39, I thought it was a good deal. The tip of the 7 above the last 8 is the most defined that I have seen on a coin of this grade. the die chip above the first 8 is worn but recognizable. All the the other attributes are present including the reverse die marker. I really believe that sellers don't know what they have sometimes, but I am glad to add this to my collection of overdates. RedRaider Pillar of the Community United States 1018 Posts	Posted 07/27/2024 8:25 pm This is actually considered to be the strong overdate variant. The top right part of the 7 sticks out above the 8. This is not an obscure variety and it commands a significant premium. I believe this is the top variety in the flying eagle series. I don't have my snow book with me, but I'm certain he gives this 5 stars out of 5 for collectibility and premium. Report this Post to the Staff
