Chump_Change Pillar of the Community United States 618 Posts	Posted 05/07/2009 5:25 pm Got this in the mail. Didn't see this on the reverse Notice running through the A and the A Straight line. I call this a Scratch. I am learning and want to know how bad this affects the value of the coin and grade. My guess it is terrible. Is the coin worth keeping or should I return it? Especially if it is a present to yourself. I think you deserve the best, if you are going to look at it and glare at the scratch, maybe you should get rid of it fast and buy yourself something else. I did not look up the date, it might be a good date, I thought about how you'll feel every time you look at it. I think you know what to do. Report this Post to the Staff

Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6381 Posts	Posted 05/07/2009 9:22 pm The coin doesn't look too bad, but for only a bit more than $46 you could buy an MS-63 certified Morgan dollar at my local coin shop, without scratches, in a PCGS or NGC holder. The 1885-O is common in all grades up to MS-65. IMO Wheezydog is right, if the scratch bothers you the coin should go back. Report this Post to the Staff
