Well I paid a fortune for it on Great Collections on Sunday, but figured it's pretty unlikely I just stumble across one of these as a pick so figured I needed to buy one if I wanted one. Sold for $350 below PCGS price guide so at least I didn't pay top dollar for it. Maybe the late die stage kept the price down, but that doesn't bother me at all. I find these in circulated condition fairly regularly, so it's not really that uncommon, but I've never managed to find or pick one in any MS grade, so thinking that as easy as it is to see, and everyone looking for die 1, they are mostly gone from the wild in MS. 1936 Lincoln Wheat cent doubled die - DDO-002, FS-102

Fantastic looking doubling. In your close up image I can clearly see the flow lines from the late die state.

Thanks folks! This one has been on my hit list for rather a long time, and finally reeled one in. It's crazy just how strong the doubling is on the southern half of the coin, with so little going on with the rest of it. But dies shift as they shift! Interesting as well that the die lasted into this late die stage, yet there really aren't tons of these out there in MS condition. Even though 1936 is a Red Book variety and pretty much everyone knows to look for them. Maybe they are all in Ray's stash!
