That would be an obverse cud--and a nice one, too. Plus, there's a die crack on the reverse (lower right corner of the memorial building).

Very nice Cud! Nice clashing on the reverse in bays 2 and 3, which is not unusual for a coin with a Cud.

That's a beefy Cud, great find! =)

In case nobody mentions the reason: the letters in America did not strike properly because they are directly opposite the Cud. The Cud pulled so much metal from the planchet that there wasn't enough material and pressure to strike the letters in America.
