Hello
Trying to figure this one out! Of course pics are always a little difficult, but looks like (hoping?) a triple RPM. Looks like each attempt was tilted slightly differently than the previous.
Thanks! (hope the pics show enough!!)

Just seeing circulation wear and flattening. Die Deterioration could be in play also. It's impossible for RPM's to happen, since the U.S Mint stopped punching the mint marks by hand into the dies in 1990. 1989 was the last year for RPM's.

Hmmm, interesting.
Thought I read that somewhere, here (perhaps your reply to another post!)
I'm going to have to study this coin to learn - just seems very strange (to a newby like me!) how wear could appear inside the D
Thank You!!

Die Deterioration affects the lowest parts of the coin first.

Also, it is quite common for minting to damage the post that strikes the interior of D, O, and other hollow letters. Again, the tip of that post would be the lowest part of the resulting coin.

Whenever you think you have an RPM (etc.), you can just go to varietyvista.com to see if it is listed there. If it is not then it will be damage or something like Machine Doubling.
