I finally went to a coin shop since the 80's just to test them out and see how they treated me. I asked about Lincoln Memorial Cents and more of the modern ones. He said to just email him a list and they can put together whatever I needed. I asked him about pricing and he let me look at one of the boxes of Lincolns that was jammed with 2x2's. I pulled out a couple and they looked really good, prices were around 30 cents and $4 for proofs. I got the feeling it wasn't really a self serve option, guess he doesn't want me hanging around for hours While I was there he had an appointment person show up and asked me to step outside for a few minutes. Which is fine, I guess do to privacy sake. He did mention that on Tuesdays and Fridays he has extra help there, so those would be the best days to come in. Since I really didn't have anything special I was looking for I keyed in that he had a bargain bin of proof sets. I asked him if it was ok if I opened them up to check them and he said that is fine and thanked me for asking. I got 9 proof sets for 3 for $10. Three Jefferson Coin sets that have the P, D uncirculated and S proof for $3 each. Ten of the 1999-2008 Proof Quarter sets for $3 each. Lastly three sets of the Presidential dollar Proofs 2007-2009 for $5 each. I'll be cracking them open eventually but not sure of the 9 proof sets yet, gotta dedide if I want to keep a seperate set intact and get a second one for cracking and going into albums. Plus I still need to get holders and albums before I do anything. Here are the pics, hard to get it without glare..

You're off to a nice start. I wouldn't feel bad about cracking open those sets to fill holes in albums. Most of these modern clad sets have little value as a set but individual coins would cost more to fill album holes.

I've noticed they do not increase in value, only the mint charges more for fancier sets. Older proof sets are still cheap even after 40 or 50 years.

Very nice haul, seamonkey5150! On your next visit, check for the 2015 Presidential dollar set (that would make jbuck happy).

Now I'm thinking I messed up by getting the quarters and Presidential dollar proof sets. Now if I get the regular proof set for those years they come with the quarters and dollars already. So I'll end up with duplicates.

So I'll end up with duplicates. Whether you collect coins or stamps, when it comes to common modern-era material, you're going to end up with duplicates from time to time. It's just a fact of life. Give yourself a break and don't worry about it. You'll eventually liquidate them and use the proceeds towards coins you need in the future.
