@arm, I got pretty excited looking at this coin at first. Upon further review, I'm not so sure that you have a rim-to-rim die crack. With the heavy circulation wear it is tough to know for sure, but it looks to me like there might have been a die crack through the U of TRUST, but then someone took a sharp edge and extended it all the way down to the other rim. I can tell this because this lower section seems to have more of a cut portion to the right and "smushed" metal to the left.

Yes, looks a bit suspect where the linear feature exits the base of the bust.

I think that Spence has this one correct.

It does look like a cut - but then again I don't know how a thin cut could raise so much metal!

Looks like a RRDC and a nice one at that but with some lighting issue making it look like a scratch? Can we get another closeup photo of the bottom bust at different angle?

Agree with Spence on this one. A die crack that has been extended with a scratch. How can you have a crack showing on the rims when they are preformed and the die does not extend over the rim.

Looking at the larger images (click on them), it could be both... RRDB and a scratch tracing it.

Somebody tried to cut it in half with a big kitchen knife.

Definitely a "knifed" coin. The upheaved metal mostly smoothed over with time.

Thanks for the photos. Unfortunately it does look more like a deeply scratched surface. I don't think I've seen wear resemble a rim to rim die break like this before though.

Seen a pile of them with Morgan dollars, same concept.
