I'm blown away at the price point on the proof eagle next month. That is the same price as last year meanwhile silver has doubled in price.

They base the selling price on what they already have in stock. Assuming silver remains at historic highs, I expect the later 2026 releases to have significant price increases as the supply is depleted.

That is crazy didn't realize that. So would they sell below silver spot if they had a surplus from the previous year?

I just read that the US Treasury transferred about 5600 tons of silver to the strategic stockpile in 2024. I don't imagine they have access to it at that point. Generally I thought they just bought it on the open market (SMI) as needed. Not sure how far in advance they buy it. I suspect we'll see a raise in prices soon, bite not sure. You'd think they'd at least change from the listed product prices to "TBD" if they thought a raise would happen by January 20th. I hope it doesn't get raised a tremendous amount. Keep in mind what the mark up already is on US Mint products. Yes the raw material is going to create a jump, unless they decide to eat a certain amount of the extra expenses (less of a premium for them). They may do that for now and raise prices later. It's really hard to know.

Happy New Year Gilly, The U S Mints do NOT eat anything but Our collective Finances... There is No way the Mints will Not raise prices...Spot goes up, They claim prices must rise, Same game, Different day. To suggest they would eat costs, You have the Wrong financial institution, IMO Simply speaking, If the Mints charge $97.00 for an Ounce of 0.999 silver when spot is or has been around $50.00. I believe the release prices will be around $125.00- $140.00 an ounce for the Same product as 2025 offered. Whatever the prices are raised to or Not, The American Silver Eagles collectors are going to pay, ........ Being spot Silver is around $75.00/ounce add an additional $50.00 and the Mints Should be content , As they Usually charge about $50.00 above spot.. Just my take, I Too am Hoping there's a Multiple Coin set for the 40TH Anniversary of The American Silver Eagles Series, ....

Most of the listed products have prices that appear to be the same as last year
Does the mint have a history of changing the prices throughout the course of the year?

When Spot was around $50.00 the U S Mint's sold an Ounce of Silver for around $97.00 plus 4.95 shipping.
When spot is around $70.00- $75.00, Like it has been, What do you all think the U S Mint's are going to sell a 2026 American Silver Eagle for, ?
Spot has climbed to approx 50% Higher, as stated above, Clearly they Will charge us More...
PS, When a gas station receives a delivery of Gas and the Next morning coincidentally gas prices Shot up Over-night, My question is This, What do you think the Gas station owner will do, Charge Nothing Over the costs, Or Charge the Going rate of the day. That's how I see the question asked above about what the mints might do IF they ordered early and got the Silver cheaper.

When does the extra cushion of charging Premium (almost double) over spot come into play when considering the price point?

Hello Mojo, Happy New Year.... Price point? The U S Mints have Always charged Well Above the Spot prices of the Day. They have been charging Usually around $ 1,000.00 Above spot for Gold products for Well over a decade, that I can recall. They, as stated Above are Usually about $50.00 Above Spot Silver of the Day too. An ASE Today Costs 2025 $97.00 plus shipping. I do Not believe the U S Mint's will charge the Same prices they did with Silver prices, basically Rising after the years issues were all released, This imo, is why we can obtain a 2025 for the Same prices, The date precludes them from charging more, Now in 2026, With Silver Continuing to Rise up and Up, I'm betting the Mints Will charge More than $97.00 plus shipping for a 2026 ASE. I see the product schedule for 2026 Does state in Will offer these at the Same 2025 release prices. I just do Not believe it, ....

Happy New Year MD! It just seems to me that looking at what the Mint has set as what they charge for their precious metal products does not follow any standard formula (spot x 1.5, spot x 2 etc.) this policy leads that the Mint will be able to charge whatever they want.
