My card was charged this morning for the 2025 American Innovation Proof Set, which, according to other topics here on CCF and the US Mint site itself, will be the final year for the AI proof set. That's a big disappointment as we'll have already been 7 years (or about half way) into the program. That's going to leave a lot of holes in a lot of albums.

Hopefully the Reverse Proof Set does not meet the same fate but if I were a betting man...

Does the mint actually say it's the last year of the proof coins being minted, or just as separate set that you can't subscribe to anymore? Last I remember there was conjecture that they might combine the innovation dollars with the other coins as a single set.

Did they make their way through all 50 states already?

It's scheduled to run through 2032. Legislation is that the "Treasury shall mint and issue $1 coins to be known as ' American Innovation $1 coins'" ("shall", not "may"), and ends when all of the states and territories are done. -- https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/31/5112

The code says they "may" mint proof coins, so those aren't mandated. But it feels awfully weird that they'd just abandon the proofs.

Good question. Adding it as a 3rd lens to the U.S. Mint Proof Set like was done for the Presidential dollars is a plausible alternative. Really, it would probably be a 2nd lens now that the Women's Quarter program is over.

Nope, just over halfway with 28 states released (4/year over 7 years).

For 2027, sure. No telling what craziness awaits the 2026 sets. I am envisioning special OGP or something.

IMHO this is how it should have been all along. It was the Mint Director's decision to issue these only as a separate set. Hopefully, the new Mint Director will decide to continue the proof coins as part of the annual proof set, BUT it would also be nice to continue the separate set as well for those who only want the proof innovation dollars.

Maybe the Mint survey should have asked about innovation dollars (or did it? don't remember for sure) instead of DC Comics medals

Yes, this has worked for the clad thematic quarters since 1999 (since 2004 for the silver thematic quarters). However, one could argue that the quarters are way more popular than the dollars, and therefore worth the effort.

Interesting data. Huge drops year over year (except for 23-24). Will be interesting to see if there is another uptick when people hear/realize that '25 is the final year for the set.

This is the only mint set I still have on order, I canceled everything else. If they stop minting proofs are only include them in the proof sets, I'll probably get them from the secondary market. I don't want the whole proof set only these coins.

It might make things easier for me, but somehow I feel like the full proof set price will go up more than the $27.50 this one costs.

Seems likely given the Mint's recent pricing practices.
