I have two small date no mint mark 1982 pennies and they weigh 3.1 each. I know the main one is the small date D weighing 3.1 but according to what I've read online the pennies I have are still somewhat rare and I was just hoping someone could maybe confirm or correct me. Also, I have two large date 1982 no mint mark pennies weighing at 2.5 which I'm lead to believe is also a somewhat rare penny. Lastly I have a 1982 large date D weighing at 2.5 which I believe is a common coin. Thanks. This is my first post so I hope I did this right.

to CCF.

Where did you read this info on the 1982 Philly minted copper cent coins at?

I ask because we have been seeing this quite often lately, I have seen the the Red Book shows that they are worth some value, but this is in error, The Philly small date copper (3.11g) and the Philly Zinc (2.5g) coins are quite common and only worth a few cent above melt at this point.

The only one to really keep an eye out for would be the Denver minted Small date copper cent.

In circulated condition, the only coin worth more than a cent is the 1982 D small date copper cent. The rest of the coin types you mentioned are not rare but may be worth more or less than the others in extremely high grades.

Unless in uncirculated condition, I don't see how any 1982 dated cent can be worth anything more than the metal in the coin or 1¢ - whichever comes first. (Except the 82-D copper SD obviously). You can find them during roll hunting so why buy a circulated example at a premium?

Just saying...if you got this from a coin app or someplace like ChatGPT...then no wonder. Don't use these sources for coin info. AI is not what the marketers make it out to be. I have spent a lot of time now with it and understand very well why its initial creator called it as dumb as a rock.

The large AIs gather from misinformation as well as good information. So they rarely get it right in speciality areas like hobbies. No app can grade a coin and none give a real value consistently.

I read the info from the Google searches AI overview. I've also noticed that a lot of coin scanning apps seem to give higher values to get higher ratings on their app. Well I appreciate the feedback. Even though it wasn't the best news I've gotten at least I know the truth now and that's what I wanted to know.
