Hello,
I just purchased some Liberty nickels off of ebay. I only just moved from roll searching. So, I have no idea of the values of the older coins. But, when I saw this deal, I coundn't pass it up.

10 rolls of Liberty nickels:

Even if I take them to a bank, I should be able to make one dollar.
Did I make a bad decision in buying these?

Thanks

Looks like a good deal to me! 10 rolls of nickels = $20. Total cost of auction with shipping.. $19.

I'm sure some of these nickels will have numismatic value...

Heck yeah you got an amazing deal!

Great! I was worried. Honestly, I would have posted earlier, but I didn't want you guys bidding on my auction.

I'm hoping to get a good chunk of my collection from this lot.
What should I be looking for specificly? (aside from the 1913, that is)
Rest in Peace

Don't want to sound like a cynic, but are you sure you bought ten rolls? Reading his listing with a suspicious mind, he never says the auction is for 10 rolls, just says he HAS 10 rolls.

Sounds like the deal of a century - even the lowest grade, most common date Liberty nickel is worth a couple of bucks. That would make a roll worth close to $100; ten rolls close to $1000.

I agree with jgfindring - make sure you are clear on what it is you will be receiving before you pay.

That'd still be $50 a roll...

I wasn't sure either. I checked his other auctions and he says "I have..." for all of them. Also, his wording (to me) implies that there are 10 rolls.

I'll keep you guys posted on what I revceive. I might be setting myself up to be dissappointed.

Thats a very awkward position the seller has put himself in , one could easily argue its advertising 10 rolls.
It doesn't say one way or another if its 1 or 10 , 10 is mentioned though.
Id also agree the Liberty nickels can go pretty cheap in poor condition and they wear so easily , maybe even more than the buffalo ever did.

I'd ask the seller and make sure you are getting 10 rolls. Even if you only get one roll, it is still a good deal (under 50 cents a coin!). If you wind up getting 10 rolls, that is remarkable and it is the seller's fault for not being clearer about the auction. Let us know what you get.

I think everybody here is assuming that the coins will have dates! At that price I wouldn't hold my breath.

Exactly Bill , one thing about ebay is if it seems to good to be true you can bet your bottem dollar it isn't.

Interesting. Tough call.

But if you pay with PayPal (and I'd also pay with your credit card through PayPal), you're pretty protected here.

Heck, as was said, even one roll at $19 isn't bad depending on what you get.

The rolls were put together from a collection that had both 19th and 20th century dates, but it was randomly done so I can't say how many 19th century dates are in each roll.
This is the part I'd worry about! If he was going to send you all 10 rolls.....why even mention it? I figure one roll coming your way. But even so, if they're the grades he mentions "many good and possibly fines" you should make out okay. If not...dispute!

I am betting that you get one roll.
I have to agree with all above.

I ma betting one roll as well - below is a cut and paste from his auction:

You never know what you might find. Please ask questions. I combine shipping. Insurance is optional. Thanks.

Notice the "please aske questions" - he is essentially putting this in for a CYA. Let us know how it works out....
