"Complete set of all 50 State Quarter uncirculated bank rolls. The set has a value of over $1,100.00. These coins are in their original bank rolls and some rolls go for over $50.00 per roll. Will sell the complete set for $800.00, that is only $16.00 per roll!"

Deal or No Deal ?

I've been collecting State Quarters from circulation and making my own rolls, would being uncirculated make them worth another $300?

I've seen some rolls selling on ebay lately for more than $16.00. Not sure which ones because I wasn't interested....more in shock of the price. 40 cents a coin doesn't sound unreasonable for uncirculated....if you're into that quantity. Browse ebay and see what some rolls go for....some states more than others.

It is certainly a quick fix if you want to acquire all of the coins without the hassle of searching ebay for every state. I'm finding rolls on ebay to actually be a bit less than $16. If you look around long enough you can find rolls for $13-15.

However, you would also have to consider the cost of shipping of each roll (around $3.00).

Some states go for more money than others. Illinois now are around $20.00 and up on auctions endind within hours. I've seen some go for $35.00 and $40.00 roll. Depends on the state.

Last summer most all of these "Stringer Bank wrapped rolls" went for "face value".....this was at a coin auction I attended. Only one or two states went for a couple dollars over face. All states were there except for 2008.
By saying "Complete Set" ....I assume you mean both "P" AND "D" mint rolls I hope.
Still......I would kinda lean towards thinking $16.00 per roll average is rather expensive at this point.....put 5 or 10 years on this, and then maybe there will be some well founded appreciation for these business strike Stringer bank wrapped rolls.
Wait a second....
Let's see..$10.00 face per roll...100 rolls....face value $1000.00.....
and he only wants $800.00 for 100 rolls ? .......he's willing to take a $200.00 LOSS of face value to sell these ?
Ummmm.......then take the deal......heck !......take them to a bank immediately and you'd MAKE $200.00 JUST WITH THE FACE VALUE PROFIT !

But if it's only ONE MINT REPRESENTED HERE AND "NOT" A COMPLETE SET......then......yeah.........too expensive for me !
Clarification....."complete" as in he just has all 50 states from one Mint........or "complete" as in he has all 50 states from "BOTH" Mints....
What does he mean by "Complete Set" ? $300.00 over face value, at this early point, with the ending of the State Qtr. Program just happening.....is too much fer' me.

It can only be one mint. If each roll is $16 and the total set is $800 than there are only 50 rolls.

$800 total/$16 per roll= 50 total rolls.

I'm guessing that it is only one mint of each state probably "P" as he is in Michigan. He has 50 rolls x $16 = $800.

To the State Quarter Collector, this IMQ, is a very fair asking price, in time this "collection" should be worth more.
On the other hand, Like "Eagleye", LOL, has stated, from the "speculator's" prospective, the trip to the bank will yield $200.00 profit at face value.

I too have the same collection, all states( not all mints)in the Stringer wrapped rolls and would like to believe this collection should be worth more as time goes by.

Also I believe that some rolls from the first 2-years are asking/getting much more than the price per roll as stated, Pennsylvania/Delaware-D alone in MS65 lists(NNCM-Price Guide) for $20.00 per coin!!!....

Well.....it is obvious that the seller intends only "one" Mint and only 50 rolls...(I was being just a bit sarcastic with the "both Mints" thing...sorry)....and so it is $300.00 OVER face value, which I wouldn't pay at this point for Stringer rolls....

$800.00 for $500.00 worth of Stringer rolls which everybody got for "face value" from their bank when they came out. And the fact that I can still get these for "face value" at auction and such.....tells me that it's too high "for me".

Maybe in the year 2118 or beyond I'd pay that........but not 6 months after the State Qtr. Program has ended.

Then again.......selling them while they're "hot" could be the idea here...(I just don't want to "buy" them while they're hot & pricey ! )
(I would want to buy them "before" they're hot, or "after" they've cooled down...but to each his own.

My motto.......before or after the "frenzy".....but not DURING !.....

It is like any other market advice. When the masses are screaming that the sky is falling, you buy. When the masses are cheering because their values can only go up, you bail.

A "deal"? No

A fair price? Maybe. Yes some of the rolls do sell for more, but many of the states can be had for just a couple dollars over face. Then you also have the problem that you are buying a pig in a poke. You have no way to guarantee that the rolls you receive are solid unc rolls of that particular State Quarter.

For that much money I'd rather have a nice key date coin. It will go up in value faster too.

I would like to add to my previous post: I do believe that for the Collector, getting this set in a one stop does all deal also would have it's value, compared to searching for "EVERY" roll and the shipping costs, dealing with ALL the seller's to gather the rolls and hope they are what they are suppose to be. Also IMHO I do not think you can find this "set" of unopened UNC rolls just anywhere, for the price. I would ask if there is some sort of return policy, in case things are not as described......

Problem is, how would you know whether or not you got what you paid for unless you open the rolls? The whole point of this set is that it is an unopened roll set. And if you open the roll(s) then you can't return them in the same condition they were received in.
