I wonder what they are going to do for a NJ national park - the NJ Turnpike state park? Tony Soprano's crew making some guy "disappear" in the Pine Barrens?

I think it's a great idea. As people receive the coin of a National Park or Forest and have not visited it, it will encourage people to visit. Which in turn will boost the economy.

The only thing better would to depict 50 corrupt politicians so the public would know who NOT to vote for!

I would overall agree with most that this New program is ALL we do not need, It would seem to me the term collector is used in much of the marketing nomenclature, I do not believe they will not "put the cash cow out to pasture", instead, they are gearing up to squeeze it dry.

I know we will be seeing State Quarters for tooo many years to come and do not believe we need to see these new quarters to fill the market, with an already "filled to capacity" state of coinage. I do feel we could use a boost in currency to assist the "billboard effect" in getting the ideas out to the public. WE as collectors will do as we always do, collect as we will, me, I just am not sure if I can resist not collecting those bullion pieces!!!
Rest in Peace

Eaglefoot, yes I was just kidding, of course. But if the idea does come to fruition, I hope I get the credit for the idea and a gift, like maybe the complete uncirculated set of all 3140+ county State Quarters!

How about this 'break' from rotating reverses in between?

That's an incredibly good idea DNA ! ...... But, a cryin' shame that we all know it won't happen though !.....

I voted with the majority so far......and agree with those who "frown" on the upcoming medley of money making ventures by the U.S. Mint.
I suppose I'll probably just collect the ones I find interesting, and certainly not try to "get them all". (biz. strike wise)
The Proof & Uncirculated Sets will contain them so......I guess I'll have them there.
But, the "mania" will not "grab me" with these.....as it shamefully most certainly did with the States....
As someone mentioned........I'm becoming "weary" with all of this craziness in "new designs" as well.
I may drift more like 80/20 favoring "Classic" coins mainly.... because of all this.
Perhaps if this became a prevailing majority theology with the "treatment" of all of these new Mint ideas by the public.....then the tick would be less swollen and we could resume some "normalcy", by reverting more back to "the way it was".
Something "Special" should be a rare treat......not just a "Thursday" from the U.S. Mint !

Personally I have no interest and would be OK with returning to the old design.
But if the new "theme" quarters get people interested in collecting in general it will be good for the entire community.

I wish they would have just finished up with this statehood / territory 56 quarter thingy and returned with a slightly re-designed quarter and leave it at that. It was fun for 11 years but now it's excessive.

I think it's pretty much overkill anymore! I really could care less about them and would (like others have mentioned) rather finally have a standard design! I remember when I was 12 years old anxiously awaiting for the New Bicentennial coinage! For the first 2 or 3 years I actively sought the State Quarters! After that it sort of was like a chore. I needed them to complete my set but had little desire to do so! I still don't have all the Denver coins! I'll grab territory quarters when I see them because of the lower mintages, but I'm not going to run all over the state trying to locate them. I liked the 2 Year Jefferson nickel change and the Lincoln Cent thing! But I'm afraid of what will happen to the Dollar thing when they run out of Presidents and realize most Non Collectors could care less about them! Who or What are they going to slap on them them to stimulate interest?

This really is so pointless. Has anyone even noticed how many people don't even pay attention to their quarters now? They are so used to seeing so many different designs that in most people's minds quarters just have anything and everything one them. And to some younger people they are just becoming background noise in that the myriad designs are just ignored due to excessive variation. I was at my local coin shop a couple of weeks ago, and a kid around 14 or so looked into the glass case where my dealer has the State Quarters. The kid then turned around and said to his dad "hey, did you know that there are different ones?!....that's stupid." In my mind that just kind of epitomized how the masses feel about such excessive design variation.

Going far into the past, I don't even understand the mint's sudden turn against symbolic representations of liberty. What suddenly changed in the first half of the twentieth century that made everyone feel like presidents were so much better? Especially after the incredible artistic period of the 1900s-1920s that spawned unparalleled beauties such as the Buffalo nickel, Mercury dime, SLQ, WLH, Peace dollar, and Pratt and Saint-Gaudens gold, I still find the sudden shift to lifeless profile portraits of historical figures jarring and incomprehensible.

I can't believe I have to wait until 2022 for any more hope of a good quarter design. 2022!

The only good thing about this is that it gives you some perspective on time. I remember way back when thinking, oww, 2008, that's a long way in the future. So, 2197 is the next aim, apparently (or is that 2022?), i'll be old no matter what!
