Hi all. I've been finding many of these while searching through circulated bank rolls. I'm guessing this is from feeder fingers? Has anyone else been finding these?

Thanks, Mike

That doesn't look like any Feeder Finger Damage that I ever saw, but I'm no pro.

Yea John. All the coins I have with Feeder Finger Damage look more like a smear across the die. I know this impossible, but it looks like steps from the old memorial reverse.

Between Lincoln's hand and knee? That would be a higher spot on the die...perhaps it's a file mark? (if they still use files, lol)

Feeder finger die scrapes take on different forms. Some sharp and some not pronounced. The less prominent ones probably had die wear from continued use. But here are a few examples:

coop, here's a case where a picture does not say more than a thousand words. On the "wicked" I can understand the raised scratches as Feeder Finger Damage on the die. That doesn't explain the incuse areas on the coin itself. Perhaps a piece of the feeder finger splintered and adhered to the die? Curious.

I found two of them in the same roll. Exactly like that. At first I thought it was just damage, but not two coins exactly like that. In the same roll I found several normal ones. It have have been part of the feeder finger metal that was stuck to the die or the die was yanked after the markings we evident. Probably a whole lot more of them out there yet to be found.
