Poll Question
Ugly, scratched, beaten, damaged, and if it were any other coin it would be worthless.

But since it is an 1877, and the pain is how you can even still read the liberty and see feather detail. Just heartbreaking.

I want to post it up for sale but have no idea what to price it at. No not on the Bay, and NO I don't want to play any games or pull any stunts. Just a fair price for both the buyer and myself. I know that there IS indeed still a market for even a coin in this condition because of it being such an impossible key to financially overcome for most collectors.

Please take just a moment and be realistic. I do appreciate opinions and really do want to hear what the masses think about this coin.

Thank you for participating and I value your input.

I couldn't see spending more than $20 on it. IMO it's too far gone to have any real collection value.

How did this key come into your possession? I get upset when people mark coins with ink markers, but this is a bit much. I know you don't want to deal with ebay, but I think your best bet is to ebay the coin and let the market run its course. Who knows? You may be pleasantly surprised.

It's an $800 coin in G-4 and $2000 in VF - which is what I would probably grade it if it was not damaged.

I voted $200 which might seem high, but if you've got an album with a spot to fill, it might just draw some interest. It's still a key date.

In an album, the out-of-round and rim damage will be a little less noticable - and it's got some character to it.

I don't even collect Indian Head cents and I'd pay $60 for it right now on the spot if that was the sale price.

I voted for $20. I would probably not put it in my IHC Dansco, but it would find a home in the miscellaneous album with the other "misfit toys" I have. It is still an 1877 IHC and deserves some love.

I voted $40, becuase for $40 you can finsih your album while you save up $1000 or so to get a good one, which may take awhile.

I would be very concerned that it is a fake that has been damaged intentionally to hide the fact that it is a fake. There are lots of fake 1877s. I voted $20 but you would probably have to pry the bill out of my hand to get even that much from me. Why such heavy damage and such little wear? Something about the coin makes me uneasy.

It's 'the' key of IHCs. Filling a hole is real important to some people. I voted $100 and would not be surprised to see it go higher.

I didn't vote, because I think it is worth $0. There is a line I just won't cross when buying coins.

Needless to say.. that's one of the dates I am missing.

But.. I don't know if I could put that coin in my album or not.

I did vote $20.00, not even sure if it's worth that.
