Well, I think it's cool.

I can't tell from the pics, but is the bottom of the bust or anywhere else on the coin like that?

No. It's mainly the V in VDB.

I'd like to know the answer, too. Could be Die Deterioration I guess. But, I'd like to hear the pros perspective.

I guess that is the long-winded version of: bump

Check all devices on both sides. If it is Machine Doubling you will see distortion on one or move other devices if it is Machine Doubling. You many have to look very closely as the incuse devices are very small on the VDB. These are not punched into the die. All devices are on the master die even the mint marks on this year. If it were a doubled die, the doubling on devices are usually near the center for this year.

It's a little hard to explain, but incuse design elements will look like they are hub doubled on a coin when it comes to Machine Doubling. If you think of everything backwards (which is required for incuse lettering), it makes sense.

Anyhow, even notching can show up on incuse elements in Machine Doubling.

Your coin is a slight case of Machine Doubling, and I disagree with Coop that it would show someplace else. Machine Doubling does not have to show on other design elements to be what it is. I've seen Machine Doubling on a mintmark only with the remainder of the design completely unaffected.
