well, It's been a while guy's! and alot of LIFE has happened! Both bad and good. And this part seems to have become much-much MORE than I could have ever expected! So many more details to my story that would blow the minds of all, but, I did listen to all your words with the most open of minds, so . . . . The pictures tell you what I see also, which ofcoarse was the first thing thatwas called for, which was to look at the lamination line on the edge to see where the two halves were joined to make the novelty. But, there is NO DISCREPTENCY WHATSOEVER on the edge in widths of both metals - each 'spline' is true where metals meet, with not a single oddity or abnormalty around edge other than uniform ware. and opposing face is rotated a bit shy or 180 degrees , so with one head held true top and bottom and spun around, other heads is not quite vertical! I'm fairly sure I will travel to Mint for authentication, because without a doubt - "FOR SALE" and I don't need to won anything like this( sure cool to hold though). My questions are ; what is best coarse of action, with the mailing of the coin not an option? does anyone else think what I think about 'How a mule ? - and 1965 for the date ? And anything else you experts can say or ask to make this go the way it is supposed to go? Private messages are welcome. I have photos of edges total circumferance on request. Oh, I have, (if I am correct in my thoughts)a number in mind for a value if this is all that I think that it is. Any guesses to a concervetive value? I am eager to hear your responses, and again thanks for all past and now! . . . . . LET THE GAMES BEGIN !    |

As far as I know it's impossible for it to be real because the dies cannot physically be mounted that way.

The bottom image is the true obverse. The upper image was added to a hollowed out reverse missing and added. Magicians coin. You can tell from the distance of the devices near the gutter of the rim. The devices on the added on obverse the device touch the rim, where as the true obverse had a gutter next to the rim. |

Same thing - saw it immediately. I've got 4 or 5 halves like that too. You may be able to pry the insert up with an knife. Flip it or do a drop test with it. It won't ring like a normal quarter will.

This is a nice double headed magician coin BTW ...... worth maybe $10 at the local magic shop.

My first thought ... is .. Isn't a mule the product of two coins. Like the Sacagawea dollar with the George Washington quarter obverse. Coming from ... breeding a horse with a donkey .. and you get a mule. My second thought is .. I think we should all be behind, having Joe take his coin to the mint, to me that sounds like a very wonderful idea. I think that would be fun to watch. |

Welcome back, Joe  Take your loupe and look real close at the side showing in that top picture. Start where the spot is - inside the rim - go 'round the inside of the rim and you'll see the seam. |

Been a while Joe! Welcome back! But yes, I can see the seam on the lower right about where George's ponytail ends in the first pic. I also have several of these I found in halves, and at first I was excited too, so don't feel bad....  |
