Carl,
If you put in google, for instance, the word lyrics, with a colon and a word, you can find almost any lyrics.
lyrics: dime
lyrics: Turtles
lyrics: Taxman

This post looked right for the medal I received in a junk lot purchase. It's a Pat Benatar backstage pass. It measures almost 2 inches across (more like 1 7/8) and weighs 25 grams, looks to be brass. Thought someone here could appreciate it, and maybe tell me more about it.

That's really cool. I've not seen them before. Excellent find in a junk lot! A quick look on ebay found a couple Willie Nelson brass backstage passes somewhat similar to this. The seller is asking in the $40 range.

The question is are they real? The size and lettering font is very similar to a lot of fantasy brothel tokens. The only people who would know would be those people who actually had backstage passes, or the artists road crew/security at the time.

This song came up on my iPod this morning...
"Just Another Day" by Oingo Boingo
But there's a smile on my face For everyone There's a golden coin That reflects the sun

I thought I'd resurrect this thread that's been quiet for 6 years. Songs with numismatic themes in title or in the lyrics or just numismatic words. I've added a few new ones.
Keep searching and add more!

Not sure if this poem counts as a song (though it's pretty close, as it is apparently sung in-story), but the first that came to mind was a section in Lewis Carroll's poem Haddocks' Eyes, where the non-narrator character complains (again) about his living...
He said "I hunt for haddocks' eyes Among the heather bright, And work them into waistcoat-buttons In the silent night. And these I do not sell for gold Or coin of silvery shine, But for a copper halfpenny, And that will purchase nine."
(The book where this is from was written in the mid-1860s, but it is supposed to be set in 1859, and the poem is a flashback, which means it's likely set even earlier. So it was probably a pre-1860 copper halfpenny.)

Cake - Dime
In the brown shag carpet of a cheap motel In the dark and dusty corner by the TV shelf Is a small reminder of a simpler time When a crumpled up pair of trousers cost a brand new dime Well you ask me how I made it through and how my mint condition could belong to you When I'm on the ground I roll through town I'm a president you don't remember getting kicked around I'm a dime I'm fine And I shine I'm freshly minted I am determined not to be dented By a car or by a plane or anything not yet invented I'm a dime I'm fine And I shine In the hiss and rumble of the freeway sounds As the afternoon commuters drive their cars around There's a ringle jingle near the underpass There's a sparkle near the fast food garbage and roadside trash I'm a dime I'm fine And I shine I'm freshly minted I'm silver-plated I'm underrated You won't even pick me up because I'm not enough for a local phone call I'm a dime I'm fine And I shine I'm a dime I'm fine And I shine I'm a dime I'm fine And I shine

How about the most insidious coin-related ditty of all time? "Shave and a haircut, two bits"? [edit - rats! I see it was already mentioned on page 1!] Somebody already mentioned Operator by Jim Croce but I think that's such a good song that it's worth another mention. Also, I don't think I saw Down on the Corner by CCR mentioned yet... "bring a nickel, tap your feet" (sometimes these zombie threads are great!)
