I found multiple coins from a box of uncirculated, fresh from the Mint via the Direct Ship Program, that have issues around the neck both in front and in the back of Sacagawea. Can anyone tell me if these are significant with the pictures that I have here? Or do I need to get better pictures? Also, in the 2nd picture that there appears to be noticeable doubling on the date, especially the 2nd zero. Is this just Machine Doubling?

Any information that anyone can share would be appreciated.

Under the jaw it appears like damage from what I can see. The second image shows the path the damage followed to make this mark on the neck.

Coop,
I hadn't figured on damage since I found almost a full roll of them. What would cause consistent identical damage on that many coins?

Thanks

Was this roll a OBW roll? It appears the edge of a coin made the mark present on your coin. You can see where the jaw turned the direction to move around the jaw. A whole roll? Somebody was busy or another explination might help.

Coop, I ordered 2 boxes ($500 total) of them from the Mint's Direct Ship program. They were all wrapped by String & Sons so there were no OBW rolls. That's why it seemed like damage from the mint.

Let's see if anyone else has an idea of how this happened. That is my only solution. Mike Diamond might know what I'm lacking here.

Just my opinion, If you are saying that this coin is from a vendor wrapped roll, from the Mint's vendor, I am still amazed the quality control dept at the Mint is still asleep at the cash register.......I mean no-disrespect to you, I just can NOT believe this is still going on, Meaning I guess you have to go for a Mint set to expect a decent coin? SAD!

If this were anything other than a die issue, the damage would be on the devices rather than the fields.... Looks to me to be an abrasion (scrape) on the die.

2001-Sac---Neck-Issues/Doubling

The doubling appears to be machine (strike) doubling.

Thanks for all the info on this. Sounds like I should just spend them or maybe put them out here & see if anyone's interested in them.
