I just bought some Whitman albums to build a Kennedy Proof (silver and clad) collection in. I figured the blue would make the silver in the collection "pop" rather than get a Dansco which I have for my Lincoln collection.
Is it just me, or do the Whitmans seem an inferior quality? It seemed like a tight fit for each Kennedy. Do I need to be concerned with my coins getting ruined on the rims/edges? I previously had my Lincoln Cent collection in Whitman folders and a few of them were turned bluish on the edges/rims.
Thanks for your input!

For me I think the Dansco albums are much better quality. When your just talking albums, I feel
the majority of members here like Dansco ... the numbers are about 99 to 1

I am changing my collections over from Whitman folders to Dansco Albums with a couple of Whitman Albums. Dansco has two album types: one for business strikes, and one for business strikes plus proofs. The few Whitman albums that I have don't included proofs, but the vast majority of Whitman albums do include proofs. I would have stayed with Whitman albums but I don't collect proofs other than in air-tites. I just changed my Kennedy halfs and Jefferson nickels. And I will be changing Roosevelt dimes a bit later.

I recently tried putting a bunch of Mercury dimes in a Whitman folder - my fingers were hurting afterwards. I've since sworn them off.

I'm not a fan of Whitman. I have tons of them. They are good for circulation sets I build for ebay, I won't put my keepers in one.

Yeah, yeah, yeah and we all know who that one is.
The problem with this post is people are really again, mixing up Folders with Albums. And unfortuately Whitman with what USED to be whitman. For anyone that cares, in the past Whitman was bought out by the employees and they messed it all up. Then it was sold to Harris so Whitman is really Harris but they keep the name of Whitman since no one really likes Harris products.
I have well over 100 Whitman Albums amd mostly all are from prior to the Harris take over. Sicne then, almost any one would have to agree they fall apart or sort of. Usually the front pages come loose and the coins tend to fall out of the slots inbetween the sheets. Possibly a savings on inferior glues.

If you've been reading many posts about Folders versus Albums on this forum you would have seen the reasons for this. Those Folders are made that way purposely. The holes are tapered so that the top is smaller than the bottom. This is done so once you get a coin in, it will not fall out easily. Many people use their thumb, a robber hammer, and some have told me they used a vise with a cloth to get coins into those slots. Then too that shinny stuff on the inside of the slots is glue left over from the manufacturing process.
And remember that every time you open a Folder, your taking a chance of your fingers running across the coins.
Folders can be OK but that is really taking a chance.
I've mentioned this previously. I am or used to be a Whitman only person but it they continue to produce such low quality merchandise, I too will switch to Dansco.

I don't use either Whitman or Dansco, or folders or albums. I use 2x2s and a binder. Best there is in my opinion.

Oh and by the way I have one dansco and the remainder are old whitman albums.
They work for me.

My BU lincoln memorial set... all have a green line of corrosion along the rim (strangely past 1982 that is) in my whitman folder though
