The title says it all- how many different dates/mint marks of US coins do you have in your collection- do not count duplicates or errors/varieties? Proofs count!

I have around 500 to 700 I collect indian heads, wheat ears, memorials, buffalos, State Quarters, franklins, Ikes, Susan B's, Sacagawea's (Proof) President $1 (Proof) and a small type collection. I have trouble focusing on one thing, but I pay the most attention to my pennies. I just started buying proof slabs. I have found that most the coins I buy I pay too much for,so I have tried to educate myself alittle better. I have all kinds of books but have come to think that time and experience will only do the trick EDog63

around 300 probably. I have a lot of the same mercs and WLH dates. Lately I have added more Buffalo nickels to my stash with dates I didn't already have.

I am told that some native cultures have only 3 numbers... 1... 2... and... many. I will have to express mine in terms of these cultures and say many b/c I have no idea but can, with all assurance, say it is more than 2!

Wow, some have a LOT! I might have 2 dozen U.S. silver 'collectible' coins, halves and dollars, couple gold, maybe a dozen proof and SMS sets, and maybe a dozen commems. While toting these up, I realized I have a half-dozen ASE's, gifts over several years. SO, I'd say 200 coins.

What are these 'darkside' coins that I see mentioned so often? Darth Vader commems?

Comes from the paraphrased comment that American collectors know more about the darside of the moon than they do foreign coinage. Forgot who said it but they are foreign coins.

I am not up there yet, only at about 125-150 or so. My "darkside" album has more.

I have absolutely no idea. Must well be in the thousands since I collect all types, all denominations, all everything in coins. With over 100 Albums, 9 double row boxes of 2x2's, 3 ringed binders full of those 20 slotted pages for 2x2's and on and on and on. Almost as bad as asking how many coins do you have total. Obvious from most replies, not many collectors have the slightest idea.
