Hello all,

I am not an error collector, and I have always asked myself why do other collectors collect error coins.

As far as I know an error coin is a coin with a defect, or in other words an imperfect coin .. a second grade coin or a damaged coin.

I know that most of you will disagree with the above words... because I do

They say that "The beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and I would like every one of you who collects error coin and would like to share their beauties to post the most beautiful error you have or have seen and just describe what is the beauty you see.

Because if you cant describe the beauty then we should all agree that we collect error coins because there is some one out there who is willing to pay more money in a defective coin... i.e. it is pure business.

Regarding my self I used to believe in the above words but now I disagree with it, thanks to this Lincoln Cent that unfortunately and sadly I dont own but I wish I did.

This is the most beautiful coin I ever seen. For my eyes it is not a coin. I see it like a piece of art.. like Da Vinci or Dali's work.

Hope you enjoy it

I don't think they would be "damaged" if the errors were in mint-state.

Oddities, something that wasnt supposed to be. Some so strangs, it gives you nite-mares. But some are beautiful. I'm not talking about the wierdos you find in a roll, but I'm talking about the $1000+ piecse. Love that 2Xstamed piece posted,.

It would be incredible if that 1917 LWC would have been a DDO also!

I remember seeing that 1917 on ebay a while back. It is absolutely stunning! I love it!

But I can't really explain why I like it so much. For some reason, I'm attracted to error coins, but I can't really put into words why. They just catch my eye I guess.

The more dramatic they are, the better. That 1917 is off the charts!

I think the beauty is in the obviousness of an error, one that makes you do a double-take when you see it. That 1917 is a bonzer error that definitely requires a second look

For me, I like my half copper quarter

These coins are all beautiful in their own way, I collect error coins and currency for many reasons, one because I can, another because everyone can have a Quarter, but everyone can not have a half coated finish copper Quarter.
I love the out of the ordinary look of any error coin, Any one can have a 1972 Lincoln Cent, not all can have a 1972 001 Lincoln Cent Doubled Die coin, the look is absolutely amazingly beautiful. The 1917 Lincoln Cent is also awesome, thanks for sharing, Mike.

I love errors in both coins and paper money. I agree, it's because of the oddity. A coin or note with an error
stands out and is an interesting conversation piece. Most people I show the errors to are shocked because they
never expect something like that to even occur.

I've posted pics below of a few of my items. I have a larger collection of paper money errors than coin errors so
I've included a few notes:

I like this expression, and it concludes to what I meant to show other collectors .... is that some error coins should be named Unique coins and those are beautiful and worth keeping..... just as your Lincoln.... a very beautiful coin, thanks for sharing

That Lincoln at the beginning of the thread is stunning!
3 slobbers!

I have slowly started leaning more to the variety side, but still appreciate a good error coin. This is not the "prettiest" error I've seen, but it is the coolest one in my collection.

A dropped letter 19971 Mexican peso.
