Thanks vanbroj! Yeah, I plan to buy a DANSCO for them to fit in with the rest of my albums. If I don't go for the 56 FE, here is a coin that would work for the last part of my goal. Half the price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWAX:ITthoughts?

John, I don't really do too much with gold, so I can't really offer any good feedback or comments. Sorry my friend !

Nice original looking early gold John. I don't collect gold either except for a couple Pioneer pieces and that Dahlonega. Honestly, I would much rather have an 1856 FE but, it's your choice. Decisions, decisions ;-)

Quote: Honestly, I would much rather have an 1856 FE but, it's your choice. Me too. The 1856 is still my prime consideration, but if I don't get there with the money, I may go for either something like this or a G4/6 1901-s. I did sell an ounce of gold, so it's a start...I'll at least take a little profit off the table with this run.

Yeah, I thought about taking some profits on gold as well. I have a couple ounces to unload and at this point, it would be a nice profit. That 1901-S would be another great way to go. Super key, always in demand and, out of the way!

Hey Guys , Dumb question, did the 9775.00 include all buyer premiums ?

Thanks for the info Delaner! That one definitely looks stronger than the one I'm considering, but the large spot of verdigris above the eagle would concern me. I'm not sure if it would CAC with that. It might be worth it to get it removed and then resubmit.
Vanbroj, yes it included buyers premium...though I'm not sure if there's an additional shipping/insurance charge?

John,
I would rather have the one your considering for the same reason. That Heriatge coin could have been rejected for corrosion.

Looks more like grime than verdigris John? Oh well, the other one your considering is nicer ;)

hmm,it could be PVC, which would also be bad. If you look at the closeup of the in-slab pic, it's definitely green at least on my monitor. It's hard for me to tell the difference, but I know they can both damage the coin. It's still a small spot, and I have heard that this stuff can sometimes form while in the slab if it was incorrectly exposed to stuff before hand. My first 1909-s vdb I bought on ebay was slabbed by NGC, and I ended up returning it for a similar issue with the green spots....I thought it was verdigris and a local dealer thought it was PVC. I still get confused on the two..lol. The Heritage coin is absolutely beautiful otherwise!

I can understand how one would be cautious when spending this kind of money. I would want one grime free or whatever that gunk is on there. I know, I still have trouble telling PVC and verdigris apart. PVC usually has odor and really bright green. That's how I tell anyway :P

Hm, I didn't look closely at it, just noticed the auction sale.
What era is that holder? You'd think if it had environmental damage (verdigris), it would be noted, no?
Definitely a candidate for conservation services...
