Nice! I've got quite a few more holes. Maybe time to grab another box from the bank. :)
If you are a box/roll, searcher, the law of diminishing returns comes into play heavily at this point. Are you going to continue trying to fill holes that way if so or entertain other means?
Great work on your collection! :)

Congrats on this very nice set. I can tell you are proud of it and rightly so. I would like to suggest that you either transfer them into 2x2 holders or get at least a coin album instead of the folder. Eventually what you are proud of today will be equally disappointing when you discover that all the coin reverses have some issues from using folders. The odds are against you long term but you might be lucky and get away with it depending on the climate they survive in.

You did the same thing I did awhile back........I had only a few holes left and ended up trading/buying them from folks here on CCF. Mine were all from "circulation" up to that point. But then I wanted better grades/quality Jeffersons. (a natural desire I think for any numismatic orientated collector) My completed Jefferson folder was a VERY proud thing to have in my collection......but some issues already had "issues", if you know what I mean. Long story short........I purchased nearly all of the needed high quality and Proof Jeffersons for my Dansco ! It took time.....buying a few from a different coin shop every few weeks or so. The War Nickel issues look SO NICE in high grades Man ! And of course you must stay "current". So, each year I buy the Proof Set from the Mint to bust out my Jefferson (and other coins) to put it into it's home in the Dansco. YOU TALK ABOUT ONE BEAUTIFUL SHINING ATTRACTIVE SET ! WOOOWZER ! I'm still missing a few out of the Dansco now......but I'm so close. Maybe your path will be a similar one ? ......

probably will upgrade as I can. looking at buying the rest of the BU war times since those just glimmer! from there I will pick up what I can in BU and swap it out. I just wanted to see what I could do from roll hunting and I am thinking anyone that gets this far hunting is a very lucky person and should be extremely proud of it!

Nice set. I am trying to upgrade all mine to MS.
I have the last three you need on my eCrater site. The link is in my signature.

You know, that got me thinking a little. I want to get a great MS-quality set, but I also really enjoy the set I've built thus far by pulling the best specimens I can find from circulation. I think I'm going to order a Dansco/Whitman album and start buying MS coins with which to populate it AND keep my set that I'm building from circulation. That's truly where the work has come into play and that set means something to me (perhaps even more than having a shiny folder of coins that I've bought for well over face), so I think I'll keep two sets. I know that means I'll likely never complete the set from circulation, but I'm ok with that. I think trading other collectors for less than MS quality ones would be acceptable in those cases.
Thoughts?

Quote: I think it would be acceptable. You are not buying them, so why not? I agree. I guess the snag is if I buy a circ coin from a collector who doesn't have anything he wants from my collection. I guess then I'm trading cash? I also wanted to see how y'all felt about keeping the two distinct albums (one for MS and one for best specimens pulled from circulation).

Quote: I know that means I'll likely never complete the set from circulation, but I'm ok with that. Do not be afraid to buy the last coins for that set! They do sell lower grade coins, you know. The business strike coins in my albums are from circulation; mostly from my own change, but many were bought from a coin dealer. I do not upgrade my coins. Once they get into the album, they are there to stay (a sentimental attachment). This is just how I do it. There is no right or wrong way.
