I got my Morgan & Peace yesterday. Took them out of the packaging and put them next MS grade originals. Have to say they are a tad disappointing. They kind of look like knock offs.
Not sure if I will get more.

Quote: That's great Helder! they look great, but I have to say the shipping labels are a bit out of focus from mid way down to the bottom. I agree John, I may need a new camera, blurs my address but not the coins! It's acting really weird.

Not sure if I will get more. That's what I thought. The ones I saw on youtube are sort of dull and lifeless. I'm looking forward to seeing the proof and reverse proofs. I never really seen a proof morgan and they've never made a reverse proof

Billie and General Sherman, when the US Mint announced the 2021 Morgan and Peace it was for the 100th anniversary of the last 1921 Morgan and first 1921 Peace. The press release said they would not be 90% silver, not the same size as the originals, they would be struck on the SAME planchets as other commemorative dollars UNC. The new versions were not intended to be exactly like the originals and have the same luster. There were some proof Morgans struck, rare and expensive. Those for circulation that were struck with new or polished dies can be graded as proof like. I have a 1880 S Morgan, 1883 O Morgan, 1883 CC Morgan all graded proof like so I'm excited about the 2023 proofs and first ever reverse proofs! As an example here is my 1880 S proof like:

I think I have decided to NOT have my uncirculated Morgan/Peace Dollars graded - I'll just get the proofs done. I'll put the uncircs in an album I'll make up.

Just a Note, People who collect the Original MORGAN and Peace dollars in the UNCIRCULATED finish, would Understand the Differences in these and The Newer Anniversary Releases. What do I mean, I collect the BOTH series in the Original MS/PF, I also Collect the Newer Anniversary Releases Too. The Originals have a Very Strong Natural Glow, The Strikes were Real Crisp and the finish was a Treat, for me in Unc's Especially.... Cartwheel effects Always going on in an Untouched or unaltered condition. They also were .900 Silver, .100 Copper , net weight .77344 oz pure Silver Dia 38.1 mm . The Newer Coins have a Flat, Dull Finish I see Others have Mentioned Here, We all Know as Collectors/Numismatists, The Finishes are Different, We all Know what They are, They ARE Different.. Was I Wanting them to Be the Same, Sort of YES. I realize the Historic, Commemoration/Anniversary, The Fresh Look they were Seeking, and We got, I Too was Hoping............Collect what You Will.... Enjoy the History.... The Newer Releases Are 99.99% Silver. 0.01 % Copper. Silver weight 0.859 Troy oz

I know the weight is different of course but I thought the dimensions were the same. No matter though. AWESOME PICS YOU GOT THERE!!

General Sherman, my bad saying they are different size. They are same diameter 38.1mm. But originals have .773 troy oz silver, new versions have .859 troy oz silver. I carefully took out of capsule my 2023 Morgan. On my scale it weighs 26.94 grams. Originals weigh 26.73 grams.

Yes, the Mint switched all 90% silver coins to 99.9% silver (to match ASE) in 2019 to streamline silver acquisition. Higher purity equals higher net silver weight in same size coin
