https://whitman.com/shop/albums-fol...no&gbrtmp=noI thought it would be interesting to bring to everybody's attention the new Whitman Prestige U.S. Type Set Album, which seems to be an attempt by Whitman to fill the void left by the Dansco 7070's pause in production. This album is the first excursion by Whitman into the general U.S. Type Set space since the 1970s, when they produced album #9138, which is the album that houses my prized U.S. type set and even includes a spot for the Draped Bust Dollar (the last remaining hole in my collection). Since that time, their offerings have been restricted to 20th and 21st century type sets. This album contains many more slots than the former #9138 (which was an adaptation of the Basic U.S. Type Set bookshelf album) both for coins issued since then and for varieties of older series that the venerable #9138 combined into one hole. I would be remiss if I didn't discuss #9434 and #9435, which are two of perhaps the most comprehensive U.S. type set albums in existence. These date from the Bookshelf era, and extend the granularity of the Prestige album back to the beginning of U.S. federal coinage. The result is the inclusion of holes for the 1796 Quarter and nearly unobtainable 1796-7 Half Dollar, making their completion a legendary accomplishment.
