Not surprisingly all the coins mentioned so are my least favorite. The Peace and SBA are cartoonish looking. 3cent and shield and Presidential are uninspiring. This is my personal opinion.

I'm also adding Ikes to my list. I couldn't come up with just one.

Presidential dollars. The only ones I ever want to collect (and bury in a bag of salt) will probably be the ones representing the years 1993-2001 and present day. I'd figure it my patriotic duty to remove these from circulation so people need not be exposed to the them.

I don't care for SBA or any Presidential coins whatsoever. I would vote Peace dollars. Forgive me but she just has a dumb look on her face with her mouth slightly open and all. Kind of reminds me of a guy I work with believe it or not! Mrs. Morgan over her any day.

I know what you're saying about the Peace dollar--she almost looks like a fish.

If you do a Google image search " Peace dollar", you will see the female model for the design.

Quote:I have no interest in them, so I have to vote for the new Presidential dollars. I have one in my type collection, and that will probably be the last one I collect. In any forum that one wins the least used, liked, wanted.

I think the true way to find out what the least "Popular" coins is, is to take a poll of what people collect. The one least collected, would be the least popular. Everything else would be opinion. I voted for the Susan B. Anthony dollar in the Modern section's version of this. But I do have a full set of them.

Funny timing on this question. I've just been working on my collections of Ikes, Peace dollars and SBAs. I also really like the 3 cent silver though most of mine are annoyingly worn. My least favorite is probably Shield nickels. They're just sloppy looking in the lower grades and I don't like them enough to pay for higher grades.

My vote is 20 cent pieces. Not a very attractive obverse or reverse. Dumb denomination.

My observations of the least popular designs people collect has a lot to do with the attractiveness of the design, availability, and the cost to do so. The odd type coins such as the Two Cent, Three Cent, and Twenty Cent Pieces have historically fallen out the view of most collectors as those series ended well before 1900. ANA LM-3175

My vote for the least popular coin to collect is the 1792 Half Disme. Liberty looks like she was beat with the ugly stick big time. Also there weren't that many minted and they are very rare thus making it out of reach for most collectors.
