I'm gussing that the vitual wait room had 3 types of customers today

Those that wanted the West Point Proof, those that wanted the Philly Congrats set and those that wanted both

So did the customers that only want one or the other unintentionally prevent the opposing customers from their rightful place in line

If they had 2 differnent release dates then the line would have only been for a single offfering.

Does that mak sense?

I would say no.

With a mintage of 500K and the ability to add as many items to your cart in the "10 minute" window as they claimed you could easily purchase both at the same time.

I was actually surprised to see that the Proof is "currently unavailable" but the same thing happened with the 2023 / 1793 Dollar reissue which became available with no purchase limit the next day for a while.

I would say there were more than 3- types of people, How about people just contacting the Mint as done daily.

Common sense would dictate that one of your questions asked,

Quote: " If they had 2 differnent release dates then the line would have only been for a single offfering. ".

Correct, again common sense, though I believe for the Age of technology We exist in Today, The present system they are using seems antiquated.

Not to mention the direction taken by the mints that quietly allowed the Authorized Distributors ( told there are 12 of them ) , wonder how and when that changed, To be allotted a portion of All collectibles, Before Everyone else, ...

I do not think small changes like seen are beneficial to the masses traversing the Mint's web site, I mean it use to carry it self till Bots and hackers broke in, I say Return to the Everybody on a level playing field and Return to the High-Noon releases that was hectic but seemed Much fairer, For All.

ps, I see this morning the mint does Not even show the 2026 Congratulations sets,on their 2026 Product Schedule

Their system fails. If they would have 2 releases, there would be 2 days of frustration. I really don't understand why the mint does not do a pre-order period and mint to those orders. I don't have proof , but would suggest they would have sold the same (maybe even fewer which could be the answer) and everyone (collectors) but the flippers would be happy.

"Upcoming 2026 Releases" is what you are looking at, yesterday is no longer "upcoming", it's "down going" (just made that up).
Below that it shows in red "show all 2026 releases". Clock that and you see the whole schedule for the year, past and future.

In a sense they do. These couple were both available on subscription. I feel bad so many didn't get them. If you're really an avid ASE collector, you know what I mean. On special releases with no subscription available, a one-off thing (like what happened last year 4 times with special ASE privy marks) then the avid collectors are sweating it out with everyone who just wants that release or releases.
But the avid collector wants one of everything and subscribes to everything you can subscribe to.
I had 3 separate subscriptions to the Congrats set. I got all 3. Plus one for the W proof. No drama or sweat. Well, just the "waiting to see if they cancel 2 of my Congrats sets". I got 2 Congrats sets the last few years as well, and I'll want 2 next year, no change. I had one paused Congrats subscription that I resumed for this year, I'll probably pause the third one now and go back to 2.
