Yes, it's been posted here before. It's an interesting story, and an interesting coin. And that's all it will be to most people.

yeah I remember it being posted on here a couple times as well. That story is just a story, but it doesn't add anything to the value of the coin. I am not saying the coin isn't worth anything because I have seen a few of them sell on Heritage and they bring some good money but nowhere near what this guy thinks his is worth with his made up story

Man! If the penny had only been the 1995 DDO I would have gone for it. But it is plain to see there is no doubling What else might hinder anyone from bidding is the seller only accepts local pickup. I don't know, maybe in Annapolis there is a multimillionaire coin collector on every block so he need not worry about limiting his prospective customer base to (mainly) locals?

Worth more then the 1804 dollar? lol I think not. Since I live in Maryland, I'd be happy to swing by and pick this up for any of you rich enough to bid...lol.

A $1,000 coin at most. The seller has tried to create a stir about it but has only succeeded in diminishing the interest by over-hyping it. I used to want to own one, but because of the over-saturation, I couldn't care less about it now.

It's a nice double denom 11 center, but they typically sell for $700-800 based on what I see in the Heritage archives.

I wonder if they would be willing to trade for an entire roll of 1943 copper cents?

well the thing about that is, this is actually an error and a roll of 1943 coppers would be counterfeit so they don't really belong in the same catagory. Its the price this guy thinks this error is worth that is just crazy and his story he has to go along with it just sounds crazy right along with his price

Quote: Its the price this guy thinks this error is worth that is just crazy and his story he has to go along with it just sounds crazy right along with his price I guess they should have opted for the briefcase full of money Of-course, they don't say what was in the briefcase... it could have rolls of pennies or stacks of dollar bills?Just to be clear, I DO NOT have a roll of 1943 copper pennies!

He lists it regularly and the price keeps going up. Over on the CoinTalk forum he's constantly worming it into the discussion telling it's story and a half a dozen pictures of it. If you mention him, 1995, cent on dime errors, dual denominations, errors, Accugrade, or Alan Hagar he is liable to show up with his pride and joy. We probably see and hear about it two or three times a week.

Sorry, I was not aware this person has been trolling the forums with their 'coin' in tow. Had I known, I would not have posted the thread. The last thing this person needs is more publicity. Though I must say I would be curious to see how the 'story' has evolved up to this point in time.
