By meeting this dealer through my local coin club, we have become friends. By chance, he asked if I would provide security (and grunt!) when he purchased a coin collection from an estate that he did an appraisal for late last year.
A "coin collection" turned out to be a trip to three different banks and 14 safety deposit boxes! There was, easily, 700-900 pounds of coins. From 1700's dated cents to 1982 & 1983 US Mint sets (only produced for visitors at the P & D Mints!). Some early 60's mint sets from Canada were in the lot as well.
Finished up the business end just before noon, transported the collection in two vehicles 90 miles away to his shop, then started sorting. I finally left about 9 pm, as I had to teach a class early in the morning. I will never forget the experience, it was a TRUE joy.
As a mini side note, the representative for the estate, also happens to be a coin collector and will be attending our next coin club meeting.
As a LARGE side note for my collection, I purchased a MS62/3 Red 1928 S
Lincoln Cent and a beautiful 1931 S in RB Unc.
I did not photo the bulk, just a couple cool items that all collectors, regardless of what they collect, can only dream about. Of course, for me, Lincoln Wheat cents are near and dear to my heart....so...a couple pictures.
This "Wonder Penny Album" was a VERY neat find. Slot for the 1856 Flying Eagle was not filled, but had a VF 1877, XF+ 1908 S & 1909 S. Complete set of Lincolns (1922 error was not).

Believe this was purchased from an infamous coin store/coin collector.....back in the day. Mail order no doubt!!

Not sure, but how old IS this Dansco album?

1912 D in a VERY original holder.

How cool would it be to search through bank rolls and pull ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE 1931 S cents from circulation?

DATED 2x2 when the 31 S was found.
