looks like a coin that has been damaged by a commercial dryer. Look for posts about Dryer Coins

I was thinking it was a Dryer Coin, like Fuzzy said.

with Dryer Coin ... fun to find but not valuable.

Enter ' Dryer Coin' into the forum search box and you will gain a lot of knowledge as to why your dime appears as it does.

Politely ask that the OP refrain from ALL CAPS shouting in future post titles ... the experts will show up without the need to shout in this forum.

Everyone told you what it is, but how this occurred is something we should point out. The coins fall out of clothes at the launder mats in the dryer. They may turn for a long time and sometimes get caught in the machinery and removed when the dryer is being fixed. The constant dropping from the tall dryers makes the rim flatten and most times the faces is also flattened. They are not pretty. But they roll larger at the rim like your coin and get wider at the rim. Here are a few more examples found.

Sometimes people take a spoon and hit the curved edge on silver halves to make them roll over to make a ring. (The smaller denominations are too small.)

These may look nice, but when worn for a time all the devices will wear off in time. I thought about getting one until I heard that they wear off.

Post-strike damage but NOT a Dryer Coin. The edge has been rolled and squeezed. The interior of the coin is undamaged, which is not what you'd see in a Dryer Coin.

I feel awkward b/c I know Mile's reputation. But view this post:
https://goccf.com/t/143863

You will see pics of many Dryer Coins that have no damage to their interiors.

How I know these are all Dryer Coins is that over the years, my Grandfather and I personally removed them during maintenance on his laundromat dryers (and front-ish-top-ish loading washing machines).

He and I used to put them in one jar to see how many we would find. They added up over the years. The ones in the group pic are (I believe) around half of the ones we found in his machines.
