My Dad (when he was alive) sold as a side business, Living Air machines, that use an ionization system, that probably would work well in case. If I had one I would rig up some dryer vent hoses to circulate the air through the closed bin. The machines worked really well, so well the Pentagon used them after 9/11 to clean the air from the smoke and diesel smell that permeated their building, with much success, I've been told. My Uncle (a heavy smoker then) got one for his home, and within days of installing it - his house was almost habitable for the rest of our family to visit again.
just carl - I did that with an old set of 1949 Numismatist magazines, left them out in the sun for a day, turning them often, that helped a lot.
