I finally found it: the elusive 1938S Jefferson nickel. The last empty hole in my Dansco Nickel album has been staring back at me for a long long time. But tonight I was victorious I finally picked one from tonights box. When I got back into coins a few years ago after 20+ years out of the hobby I had my Whitman folder with a few well worn nickels and an UNC 1950D in a 2 X 2. I guess back then I followed the "Buy the Key Dates First" that people say. I am usually the other way around and get as many as you can for the money, at least nowadays. I swapped out my Whitman folders for Dansco albums and over the last few years I have filled in the missing holes from what I started with and have slowly upgraded what I have as I find them. I will still have to find a 1950D in a box if I want to claim street cred. One thing I have noticed with my set is how hard it is to find high grade 1946-1952 nickels in circulation. I'll try to get some pics of the whole set up in the next few days but I am so excited I just had to post now and couldn't wait.

All from CRH? Those early ones look nice, and are even sweeter knowing you found them in circulation! Nice

Awesome! That had to be quite a feeling seeing that 1938 among the rest, then flipping it over and seeing that S mintmark.

That's awesome! All of my nickels have come from the wild as well, except the proofs. It's such a great feeling filling in a hole!

I have not done a circulation Jeff album yet. Pretty sure I have just about all of them in tubes except the 50D. I completed the proof album. I did the regulars in high grade to go along with the proofs. None of those were from circulation.

Congrats and Happy New Year, what a great start...I am only 2 away from finishing my Lincoln Wheat Backs. I need 1909 VDB and 1943 S Steel. I feel accomplished, so I have started my nickels. I like the old ones better than the new faced ones. I have started my journey of learning all I can about the nickel.
