Original surface right down to the rim ding on the reverse. First of the 1879-1890 rare dates to grace my Dansco. Couldn't resist the price on it. I'd say high VF details - Damage. Edited by DoubleEagle20 04/02/2015 6:57 pm

Solid coin! Guess what, once that coin goes into the Dansco, the hole for the coin will hide that ding some too!

Nice! That's not an easy coin to acquire!!
I don't believe the rim ding would "Details" the coin, IMO...

Dunno, Moe. You very well could be right. For now, though, it will go into my CBH Reeded edge/Seated Lib date set Dansco.

Nice coin even with the ding....it just adds character to a truly tough, tough coin! Those late date Seated Liberty half dollar business strikes in circulated condition are darn near rare as hen's teeth! Try putting a matched set from 1879 to 1891 together and see how far you can get. In addition, you can throw the Greysheet away because those prices won't even come near to their true worth (or what they are going to cost you!)

That's the goal, western sky. A Dansco album with a date set of nice original surface Seated Liberty halves from 1839-1891. Separate page in the album will be devoted to a nice original set of 1870-1878 Carson City halves. Gonna give it the best shot I can, but it will take years IMHO. I think this means I am truly a half dollar nut.

That rim ding isn't much of a detraction imo. That is a great looking mid grade circulated example.
VF-XF silver coins are my favorite.

Excellent amount of detail still on the coin. You had a good eye for that one.

I agree with the other, that rim bump would not bother me. I mit use it to work the buying price down ...
But it will look great in a album

It's patina in normal light is actually a bit darker than the picture. It looks nice in the Dansco GR58...and jdiablo30 you are right, the Dansco hides the rim bump a bit.
